Palos Verdes Estates

Palos Verdes Estates is a master-planned city in the Palos Verdes Peninsula, based on the vision of renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. The city is an affluent South Bay suburb, providing professionals working in the Greater Los Angeles region with a breathtaking coastal retreat overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

History

Incorporated in 1939, Palos Verdes Estates is the oldest among the four Palos Verdes Peninsula Cities, preceding the formation of Rolling Hills Estates (1957), Rolling Hills (1957), and Rancho Palos Verdes (1973).

Planning for the city’s layout and landscaping began as early as 1913 but was slowed down by the events of World War I. By the 1920s, land subdivision and the construction of the city’s first Spanish-style residences began.

Real Estate and Property Types

A wide range of luxury homes are available in the affluent neighborhoods of Palos Verdes Estates.

Large, estate-type homes built in eye-catching Spanish and Mediterranean architectural styles are common in this housing market. Most are mid-century constructions, with several having been treated to recent updating and restoration.

Find most home options with at least 4 bedrooms and spacious, private yard space that give owners plenty of opportunities to take in the views – both outdoors as well as from indoors.
